Design Solution

The final design solution is a stormwater detention pond with the following specifications:

• 70 feet x 70 feet with 5 ft fillet

• 10 feet deep​

• 3:1 graded slopes​ for cut and fill

• 49 cubic yards cut

The location and dimensions of the pond were strategically chosen based on the results of the HEC-HMS model. This location was limited to the criteria of the limited space of our client's backyard.

The results of our model show a reduction in peak flow of 10 cubic feet per second during a 10-year, 24-hour design storm, which:​

• Decreases the risk of damaging flooding​

• Lowers the likelihood of emergency maintenance during storm events
